Server info
This server provides a variant of the popular nethack roguelike game which is relatively close to the original vanilla nethack. Some level variants, user interface enhancements, and level generator algorithms have been added, but there are no substantial changes compared to vanilla (if you can ascend in vanilla, you can here, too, and vice versa).
To connect and play, open a terminal and type
telnet feorar.org. On windows, use
PuTTY instead.

The following noteable patches are installed:
- menucolors: allows coloring of menus with regular expressions (inventory, for example)
- statuscolors: allows coloring of hitpoints (low = red, high = green), power, and status
- dungeon overview (try #overview and #annotate)
- darkroom (glyph for dark parts of rooms which are already explored)
- heck2 (more interesting Gehennom mazes)
- glyphcolor (colored dungeon branches and altars; the mines are brown, Gehennom is red, and so on)
- additional conducts
- RNG improvement (less predictable)
- Additional level variants for Fort Ludios, Medusa, the Big Room, and the castle.
- A river-generator for the main dungeon levels. However, this patch has been modified to generate those much less frequent than intended by the original developer, and it has also been modified to never block your way anywhere.
- Additional "Held" and "Lev" status flags (when grabbed by a monster, or levitating)
- The "pilesize" patch, but modified so it doesn't change gameplay (the game does fall back to the vanilla behaviour when you're blind, so this only does something when you're non-blind)
- The "adjsplit" patch, which lets you use #adjust with a number to split stacks (currently unavailable)
- The "%" command to show traps above or below objects
- A custom version of "hitpointbar", which displays a bar for your hitpoints. Enable the "hitpointbar" option to use this; use the following statuscolor flags to colorize: hpbar_full, hpbar_high, hpbar_medium, hpbar_low, hpbar_verylow, hpbar_critical, hpbar_black (rest of the bar). A reasonable setup might be:

- Message coloring module to colorize the messages the game prints (to sort out battle spam, for example). Use it like this (same syntax and functions like MENUCOLOR, just with a different keyword):
MSGCOLOR="You hit.*"=lightgreen&bold
- Bugfix patches for all vanilla bugs I know about.
